12 months: POINTING

Miss Millie's 1 year stats:

Weight: 20lb 15.6 oz (50%)
Height: 30 inches (75%)
Head Circ: 17.25 cm (10-25%)

She's graduated to her new car seat!

She eats broccoli, and edamame, and green beans, and peas , meat....
ie, she eats most anything I put in front of her face. I LOVE feeding her, and this is the first time I've ever had a child in the 50% for weight (she was 25-50%) last month.
...on the feeding note, any tips for transition to sippy cup? She is fighting that battle hard!

Here's a sneak preview of our beach trip. This girl loves her sand, sun, and water.
Her godfather, Adam Willard, commented the other day that he generally sees Owen as serious, and Millie as a little rambunctious... I appreciate his introspection, and I think I agree! Here's a little glimpse of that playful gal =)

New trick: climbing stairs. Over.and.over.and.over.and.over...

Millie and Carson. He's so good with kids!

These two are opposite in almost everyway except the timing of their teeth. At 12 mo, O had a tooth. At 12 mo, A has 2 teeth. They are slow teethers. She's been working hard on her top 2, and they look like they're going to burst. Instead they are just prolonging all of our misery.....

She's standing fabulously! She's also taking 2-4 steps at a time, but she has to be really distracted. She had us all fooled, I thought she'd be early. I'm SO glad she's not.

Hi! I'm one.

Here's a little sneak preview at her birthday celebration #1. You know I'll be posting those pics around Christmas time, so I thought I would show her off now!

Instead of walking she's really focusing on other areas of development:
  • POINTING! If you know me well, you know that this is MY FAVORITE milestone. It's a firm indication that they don't have autism, because they want you to see what they see. It's more of a social than motor developmental skill.
  • TALKING! She's saying DOG (gog), and it's generally repeated 4-10 times. Gog, gog, gog, gog, gog. Every animal is a gog. I love 12 months.
  • IMITATING! She loves to giggle when everyone else does. She imitates kisses, blowing, waving, clapping, brushing her hair, & putting a bow in her hair!
  • LOVING! She loves Oskee more than she loves us, I think. She pets and hugs her constantly. In all honesty, though, she does love us (or loves to be held by us- still), and loves to cuddle with us, read books with us, etc.
Although she's everywhere and mobile children create mess and eliminate relaxation, I am absolutely adoring her blooming personality and development. She thrills me and creates abundant joy.
